As the tree grew its main stem broke so it made one of the branced become the new trunk/leader...but as that grew another branch further up wanted to become the leader while the other wone was still growing and now all the energy of growing is split in half so the tree will now grow much slower as it tries to grow 2 main truncks at the same time (a natural problem that affects a lot of trees). Now this tree will forever grow quite irregular in form as each leader tries to form its own natural tree form but living off only half the normal resorces. (the tree in the background also did this and often times arborists will cut one of the leaders off so that the tree grows more naturally and also making the tree safer to people since an old tree with just one dominant trunk is stronger then am old tree with 2 trunk leaders.

-on the other hand...when trees grow as crazy as this the only thing loggers can use it for is mulch since little board quality wood can be obtained from such a crooked tree
